Australian Jack Miller won his first MotoGP race under very tough conditions at the Motul Assen TT. The race was initially red-flagged due to torrential rain, when it was re-started it left a 12 lap dash to the finish in what was still a wet track. Rossi crashed out while leading after the re-start on lap two. Miller surged to the front with a brilliant overtake on Marquez on lap 4. He held his cool for the final 8 laps and raced to victory by 1.991 seconds over Marquez.
